Mammoth (Mamut)

Mammoth is a genus of ancient elephants are extinct. His size larger than normal elephants are there in the world today. Circular tusks curved inward and, in northern species, with long hair. They lived in the Pleistocene from 1.6 million years ago until about 10,000 years ago. The word mammoth comes from the Russian language (мамонт).
There is a misconception that the mammoth bigger than an elephant. The largest known species of mammoth, Mammoth Songhua River, has a height of at least 5 yards on his shoulder. Mamut generally weighs 6-8 tons, but the mammoth big male can weigh up to 12 tons. 3.3 meter long mammoth tusk was found in north Lincoln, Illinois in 2005. Most species have mammoth size of a modern Asian elephant.

Mamut adalah genus gajah purba yang telah punah. Ukuran tubuhnya lebih besar daripada gajah normal yang ada di dunia saat ini.
