Tokyo Skytree

Skytree Tokyo (東京 スカイ ツリー Tōkyō Likes Tsurī?, Tokyo Sky Tree), formerly known as New Tokyo Tower (新 東京 タワー?, New Tokyo Tower) is a broadcasting tower, observation, and restaurants in Sumida, Tokyo, Japan. The tower has become the tallest structure in Japan since 2010, and reached an altitude of 634 m at the end of March 2011, while making the tallest tower in the world, beyond the Canton Tower in Guangzhou, and is the second tallest structure in the world after the Burj Khalifa (829 , 84 m).

Construction of the tower is being led by Tobu Railway assisted by a consortium of six terrestrial broadcasters headed by NHK. The tower is in the middle of the development projects in the region between Tokyo Station and Station Skytree Oshiage, about 7 miles northeast Tokyo Station. One of the main functions of this tower to relay radio and television signals. The existing facilities at Tokyo Tower (333 m high) is not high enough for digital terrestrial television broadcasting as it is surrounded by many tall buildings. Tower construction project was completed on February 29, 2012, and opened to the public on May 22, 2012.


Tokyo Skytree (東京スカイツリー Tōkyō Sukai Tsurī?, Pohon Langit Tokyo), sebelumnya disebut New Tokyo Tower (新東京タワー?, Menara Tokyo Baru) adalah menara siaran, observasi, dan rumah makan di Sumida, Tokyo, Jepang. Menara ini telah menjadi struktur tertinggi di Jepang sejak tahun 2010, dan mencapai ketinggian akhir 634 m pada bulan Maret 2011, sekaligus menjadikannya sebagai menara tertinggi di dunia, melampaui Menara Canton di Guangzhou, dan merupakan struktur tertinggi nomor dua di dunia setelah Burj Khalifa (829,84 m).

Pembangunan menara ini dipimpin oleh Tobu Railway dibantu oleh konsorsium enam stasiun penyiaran terestrial yang dikepalai oleh NHK. Menara ini berada di tengah-tengah proyek pengembangan kawasan di antara Stasiun Tokyo Skytree dan Stasiun Oshiage, sekitar 7 km timur laut Stasiun Tokyo. Salah satu dari fungsi utama menara ini untuk merelai sinyal siaran radio dan televisi. Fasilitas yang ada sekarang ini di Menara Tokyo (tinggi 333 m) tidak cukup tinggi untuk menyiarkan televisi terrestrial digital karena dikelilingi oleh banyak bangunan-bangunan tinggi. Proyek pembangunan menara ini selesai pada 29 Februari 2012, dan dibuka untuk umum pada 22 Mei 2012.
